Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities
The Drone Pilot Intern will assist the Drone Pilot with mission planning, preparation, and execution of drone operations in line with approved flight plans.
Weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and environmental factors must be monitored to identify potential risks to flight safety. Any concerns must be reported immediately to the Drone Pilot.
Pre-flight, in-flight (where applicable), and post-flight inspections must be conducted under supervision to ensure the drone, payload, batteries, sensors, and associated equipment are airworthy and functional.
The intern will assist with basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance tasks under the guidance of the supervising Drone Pilot.
Proper storage, safekeeping, and transportation of drone equipment and accessories must be ensured at all times.
Any technical malfunctions, safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses must be reported immediately to the Drone Pilot or relevant supervisor.
The role may require assisting in crowd control and perimeter management during drone operations where necessary.
All activities must be conducted in compliance with aviation standards and operational procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric)
Valid Remote Pilot Licence
Clear criminal record
Driver’s licence will be advantageous
Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, report writing)
Additional aviation qualifications will be advantageous
