Salary

R138 486 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements:

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required.

Experience Requirements:

• Appropriate experience in transporting personnel, goods, and equipment will be advantageous.

Inherent Job Requirements:

• Valid Code B or EB driver’s licence.

• Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP).

• Physically fit and capable of lifting and loading heavy items safely.

Competencies and Skills:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.

• Knowledge of South African transport regulations, including Transport Handbook 1 of 2019.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong sense of accountability and responsibility.

• Good time management and navigation skills.

Candidates must demonstrate safe driving practices and good customer service conduct.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Transport Services

• Transport official mail, packages, medication, medical goods, and equipment.

• Transport official passengers when required.

• Ensure safe and punctual delivery of healthcare-related items.

Vehicle Administration

• Complete daily vehicle logbooks accurately and maintain transport records.

• Perform administrative duties related to government vehicle usage.

Vehicle Maintenance and Safety

• Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips.

• Clean vehicles regularly to maintain hygiene and professional presentation.

• Report vehicle defects, mechanical problems, or safety concerns immediately.

Operational Support

• Provide transport support to supervisors and clinics when required.

• Respond to emergency transport requirements when necessary.

The Driver must ensure compliance with road safety standards and government transport policies at all times.

Work Environment

The position is based at Saldanha PHC within the West Coast District. The role involves travelling between healthcare facilities, clinics, and administrative offices.

The work may require long driving hours, early morning or late afternoon travel, and working under operational pressure to meet healthcare service delivery needs.
