Position Overview

Fidelity Services Group is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Divisional Fire Officer based in Cape Town, Western Cape. This senior management role is responsible for overseeing fire operations within a designated geographic division, ensuring operational efficiency, personnel management, compliance with fire safety protocols, and community engagement.

The successful candidate will manage both administrative and operational fire duties, supervise firefighting teams, coordinate emergency response operations, and maintain high standards of safety and performance across the division.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise all fire operations within the assigned division.

  • Ensure all fire engines, emergency vehicles, and equipment are operational and maintained.

  • Coordinate firefighting and emergency response activities, including large-scale fires and natural disasters.

  • Enforce strict compliance with fire safety protocols during emergency operations.

Personnel Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate firefighters, fire officers, and support staff.

  • Conduct performance reviews and facilitate ongoing professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

  • Address personnel matters, including discipline, promotions, and workforce scheduling.

Training and Development

  • Organize and oversee training programs to keep staff up to date with the latest firefighting techniques and safety procedures.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and propose improvements.

  • Maintain staff proficiency in emergency response and operational standards.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare reports on fire incidents, resource allocation, and personnel performance.

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, incident reporting, and compliance with municipal and national fire safety regulations.

Community Engagement & Liaison

  • Collaborate with local government and community organizations to improve public safety.

  • Respond to community concerns regarding fire hazards and safety issues.

  • Act as liaison with municipal fire services, police, medical teams, and other emergency services.

  • Participate in interagency training and disaster response exercises.


Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary Diploma or National/Associate Diploma in Fire Technology or Level 4 in Fire Science, Operations, Fire Safety, and Management.

  • Minimum of 7 years supervisory experience as a Station Commander or equivalent.

  • Relevant firefighting certifications such as Fire Officer I, II, III, Pump Operator, Vehicle Rescue, Rope Rescue, and Incident Management.

  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage large teams in high-stress environments.

  • Competence in both administrative office tasks and field operations.
