About the Organization

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) is responsible for monitoring government performance and ensuring efficient delivery of public services. The Directorate of Security and Facilities ensures that the department’s infrastructure, security, and facilities management align with legislative requirements and strategic priorities.


Position Overview

The Director: Facilities and Security will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of security and facilities management within DPME. The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, manages resources efficiently, and delivers secure, safe, and optimal work environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and strategic direction for security and facilities management.

  • Manage and coordinate security services and facilities provision.

  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

  • Oversee financial, human, equipment, and asset resources of the directorate.

  • Ensure adherence to Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) responsibilities.

  • Implement effective human resources planning and performance management.

  • Develop and monitor operational, business, and performance plans.

  • Ensure corporate governance mechanisms are sound and adhered to.

  • Manage multiple projects while providing leadership and guidance to teams.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in Facility Management, Security Management, Social Science, or Public Administration.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in security and facilities management, including 5 years at Middle/Senior Managerial level.

  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • PFMA, GPG, SACR policies, and Public Service Regulations.

    • Contract management and operational/strategic leadership.

    • Programme/project management and financial management skills.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).

  • Personal Attributes: Assertive, self-driven, innovative, client-oriented, solution-focused, and able to work under pressure.
