Position Overview
The Deputy Director: Agricultural Training Institute will oversee the provision of higher and further education training programmes, ensure quality assurance processes, and manage academic support units such as registrar services and the institutional library.
You will also manage financial resources, human resources, compliance, skills development, and strategic leadership in line with Higher Education regulations, PFMA standards, and ATI policies.
This senior role requires strong leadership, deep agricultural knowledge, academic administration experience, and the ability to drive educational excellence in a dynamic training environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Higher Education & Training Management
-
Oversee the provision of higher education and training services.
-
Manage academic administration and registrar functions.
-
Lead curriculum planning, delivery, and compliance with statutory bodies.
2. Further Education & Training Management
-
Coordinate further education programmes aligned with agricultural sector needs.
-
Ensure compliance with ATI and Higher Education framework requirements.
3. Library and Academic Support Services
-
Oversee the provision of library and learning support services.
-
Ensure access to relevant academic resources for staff and students.
4. Quality Assurance
-
Ensure quality assurance systems for higher and further education.
-
Align qualifications with statutory and professional regulatory requirements.
5. Resource & Training Development
-
Manage training resource development and content creation.
-
Oversee lecturer development and training capacity building.
6. Human Resource & Performance Management
-
Manage EPMDS processes, staff development, and labour relations.
-
Ensure sound HR practices and compliance with Public Service legislation.
7. Financial & Asset Management
-
Act as the ATI Responsibility Manager.
-
Prepare, implement, and monitor budgets.
-
Ensure PFMA compliance and manage institutional assets.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 Certificate
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture
-
Post-graduate qualification in Education
-
Master’s Degree in Agriculture or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
-
Minimum of 3 years’ junior management experience in an agricultural tertiary institution

Valid driver’s licence
