About the Role
The Delivery Driver: Code 14 is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and on time. The role includes conducting pre-trip inspections, maintaining vehicle roadworthiness, managing delivery documentation, and providing professional service to customers.
This position plays a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction within a fast-paced FMCG distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation and Road Safety
The successful candidate will safely operate the assigned delivery truck, ensuring full compliance with traffic laws, company policies, and safety standards. Pre-inspection checks must be conducted to confirm roadworthiness before each trip.
Delivery Execution and Accuracy
Responsibilities include verifying loads, delivering goods accurately and on time, and ensuring all delivery documentation is completed correctly and returned as required. Accountability for goods transported is essential.
Record Keeping and Reporting
The role requires accurate recordkeeping of daily activities, including mileage, fuel usage, delivery receipts, and any incidents or accidents. All records must be maintained in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Customer Service and Communication
The Delivery Driver must maintain professional and courteous communication with customers, warehouse staff, and internal stakeholders. Any delivery-related queries or concerns must be addressed promptly and professionally.
Vehicle Maintenance and Housekeeping
Drivers are responsible for keeping their trucks clean, organised, and properly equipped with required documentation and tools. Mechanical issues or maintenance requirements must be reported immediately and managed according to company procedures.
Safety, Compliance, and Team Participation
The role requires strict adherence to safety guidelines, use of appropriate PPE, and contribution to a safe working environment. Drivers are expected to attend meetings, coaching sessions, and training, and to support team goals and operational objectives.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification

Code 14 (EC) or Code 10 Driver’s License

Valid PDP

Minimum 3–5 years’ driving experience, preferably within the FMCG retail industry
Experience and Professional Background
