Position Overview

Tiger Brands is seeking a Customer Analyst: Food Service to support its Sales and Customer Marketing teams through comprehensive data analysis, forecasting, and insights generation. This role is pivotal in helping the business make informed commercial decisions, anticipate sales trends, and strengthen category performance.

The Customer Analyst will work closely with senior stakeholders, including Customer Managers, Customer Directors, and Marketing teams, to create value-added insights, optimise promotional strategies, and identify commercial opportunities. This is a role for a skilled analyst who can combine technical expertise with strategic thinking and clear communication.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Data Analysis

  • Collect, clean, and analyse sales data to determine performance trends and growth patterns.

  • Develop effective methodologies for assessing high-volume data sets across multiple systems.

  • Closely examine historic sales information to identify productivity movements and buying cycles.

  • Produce detailed sales evaluation reports to support strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Utilise prediction software to forecast future sales trends, promotional outcomes, and customer behaviour.

Market, Category & Competitor Insights

  • Conduct market and competitor research in collaboration with the Assistant Customer Marketing Manager: Insights & Innovation.

  • Analyse consumer shopping habits, food service trends, and demographic purchasing patterns.

  • Identify commercial opportunities that improve category profitability and long-term strategic positioning.

Budget, Forecasting & Financial Tracking

  • Examine Business Unit budgets and recommend optimal reallocation strategies.

  • Provide input for budget adjustments to maximise profitability and reduce unnecessary expenditure.

  • Track category margins, sales performance, and overall category profitability.

  • Produce performance reports to measure the impact of marketing or structural business changes.

Strategic Support & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Present insights and reports to senior leadership, including Customer Directors and Managing Directors.

  • Lead information-sharing sessions to explain sales trends, commercial opportunities, and strategy recommendations.

  • Participate in sales planning meetings and support ongoing commercial strategy development.

  • Assist in implementing new marketing or budgeting strategies and evaluate post-implementation results.

Administrative & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support the Insights & Innovation team with data interpretation and commercial research.

  • Work closely with sales teams to enhance promotional planning and execution.

  • Assist in managing customer data tools, ensuring data integrity and system accuracy.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • A post-matric qualification in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong numerical and analytical background supported by formal education.

Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of proven experience in Sales Analysis, Data Analysis, or Business Insights.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in sales software and data systems including:

    • Smart Shopper

    • Dunnhumby

    • Nielsens

    • Shoprite B2B

    • Spar Insights

    • MicroStrategy

    • DataOrbis

  • Strong exposure to the food service industry is highly advantageous.

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel.
