What Does a Corporate Accountant Do at Senwes?
Corporate Accountants at Senwes are responsible for delivering accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting that supports strategic decision-making at the highest level of the organisation. In this role, you will oversee corporate financial reporting, monitor and strengthen the financial control environment, manage the full fixed asset lifecycle, and execute service level agreements with internal clients — all while maintaining the integrity of financial data and continuously improving financial processes and efficiencies.
This is a senior, technically demanding finance role that requires a relevant BCom degree, completed SAICA or SAIPA articles, strong IFRS knowledge — particularly IAS 16 — and a minimum of 3 years of relevant post-articles experience in a structured corporate finance environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Corporate Accountant
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead and coordinate the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for assigned business units and corporate functions.
- Develop accurate and well-supported budget models that align with Senwes’s strategic objectives and operational realities.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and variance analyses to keep management informed of financial performance against plan.
- Present budget and forecast findings to internal clients and senior management with clear, concise commentary and recommendations.
Financial Processing & Reporting
- Oversee daily, monthly, and annual financial processing and reporting activities on SAP.
- Prepare financial reports, journals, and reconciliations in accordance with IFRS and Senwes reporting standards.
- Compile accurate management reports that support sound financial decision-making by executives and business unit managers.
- Ensure all financial processing is completed within the required deadlines and to the highest standard of accuracy.
Financial Control Environment
- Maintain and strengthen the financial control environment through regular internal audits and compliance checks.
- Identify control weaknesses, implement corrective measures, and monitor the effectiveness of improvements over time.
- Execute and maintain service level agreements with internal clients to ensure finance service delivery meets agreed standards.
- Support external audit processes by preparing accurate audit files and responding to auditor queries timeously.
Fixed Asset Management
- Manage the full fixed asset lifecycle including acquisition, disposal, depreciation, and financial reporting.
- Ensure all fixed asset transactions are correctly captured, classified, and reported in accordance with IAS 16.
- Perform regular fixed asset reconciliations and ensure the fixed asset register is accurate and up to date at all times.
- Liaise with operational teams regarding asset acquisitions, write-offs, transfers, and impairments.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve financial processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and reduce manual effort through automation.
- Implement process improvements in collaboration with the finance team and relevant IT or systems stakeholders.
- Document improved processes and ensure knowledge transfer to relevant team members.
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset across all areas of the financial reporting and control function.
Internal Client Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients across Senwes business units.
- Respond to financial queries, reporting requests, and ad-hoc analyses from internal stakeholders accurately and timeously.
- Administer and monitor service level agreements with internal clients to ensure finance commitments are consistently met.

Minimum Requirements – Corporate Accountant
To be considered for this Corporate Accountant position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- Relevant BCom degree (Accounting, Financial Management, or equivalent) — essential
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles — essential
- CIMA candidates with equivalent relevant experience will be considered
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant post-articles or equivalent experience in a corporate finance or accounting role
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong financial reporting and analysis skills
- Budgeting and forecasting expertise in a structured corporate environment
- Strong knowledge of IFRS — particularly IAS 16 (Property, Plant and Equipment)
- SAP proficiency — essential for financial processing and reporting
- Sound understanding of financial controls, governance, and compliance frameworks
- Process improvement and automation mindset — ability to identify and implement efficiencies
Skills & Competencies:
- High degree of numerical accuracy and attention to detail

Legal Requirements:
- Valid South African ID Document
- Consumer credit record check will be conducted — this role involves financial management responsibilities
