Purpose of the Role
The Continued Airworthiness Specialist is responsible for performing technical quality inspections of aircraft, components, and systems, ensuring that no defective or unairworthy parts are installed, that all maintenance work is compliant with approved methods and regulatory requirements, and that the continued airworthiness of FlySafair’s fleet is maintained in full compliance with SACAA regulations and aviation technical standards.

Key Responsibilities – Continued Airworthiness Specialist
Work-Pack & Pre-Maintenance Compliance
- Check work-packs prior to handover to the Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) — ensuring each work-pack is aligned with the aircraft status report of due items/tasks as per the Scheduled Airworthiness Maintenance (SAM) system.
- Inspect job progress, procedures, and maintenance forms used during aircraft maintenance work to ensure compliance with approved methods, data, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that no defective or unairworthy parts are installed in any component of FlySafair’s aircraft before release to service.
Technical Quality Inspections
- Perform quality technical inspections of aircraft, component parts, and systems throughout the full maintenance cycle.
- Perform in-progress and final quality technical inspections during maintenance, repair, modification, rework, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft components — assuming full responsibility and final sign-off authority.
- Ensure proper procedures are performed on all completed work before authorised release to service.
- Conduct routine Aircraft Ramp Inspections in accordance with FlySafair and SACAA requirements.
Incoming Parts & Material Inspection
- Inspect and accept all incoming materials — including new parts, supplies, and repaired parts from contract services.
- Inspect all incoming parts to ensure they carry the required approved documentation and certification before acceptance into the parts store.
- Ensure proper tagging and identification of all parts throughout the storage, handling, and installation process.
Equipment, Tooling & Calibration
- Perform quality and safety inspections of on-site equipment and tooling used for aircraft maintenance — including the calibration of precision test equipment as outlined in the applicable Manuals.
Audit & Compliance
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with maintenance procedures and airworthiness standards across the organisation.
