The Department of Social Development invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PRACTITIONER GRADE 1 (7 POSTS) across Capricorn, Waterberg, and Vhembe Districts. These positions focus on community empowerment, development programme coordination, and stakeholder engagement to promote sustainable community development initiatives.
Successful candidates will work closely with communities, civil society organisations, and government stakeholders to implement development programmes and support social transformation initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- NQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent in Development Studies recognised by SAQA.
Driverβs Licence:
- Valid motor vehicle driverβs licence (except for persons with disabilities).
Knowledge and Competencies:
- Community development theories and practices.
- Human behaviour and social systems.
- Relevant social development legislation.
- Community mobilisation and stakeholder coordination.
- Basic financial management principles.
- Project management principles.
- Research and presentation skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Facilitation and negotiation skills.
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and strong interpersonal relations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Community Development Programmes
- Identify community development needs.
- Facilitate implementation of integrated community development programmes.
- Promote community empowerment and participation.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with government departments, NGOs, and community structures.
- Build partnerships to support sustainable development initiatives.
Administrative and Support Functions
- Provide administrative support for community development programmes.
- Maintain records of projects and community interventions.
Research and Development
- Monitor developments in community development practices.
- Contribute to service delivery improvement initiatives.
Community Engagement
- Facilitate community participation in self-empowerment initiatives.
- Support social and economic development programmes within communities.
The Community Development Practitioner will play an important role in promoting sustainable community upliftment and social development.
Work Environment
Positions are based across:
- Capricorn District
- Waterberg District
- Vhembe District
Candidates must be prepared to work in community-based environments and travel when required.
