Commodity Manager : Packaging

 

 

You are responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for your respective commodities and ensuring delivery of
the best procurement value and mitigation of supply risks. You will establish a distinctive competency and understanding of the
commodities and Tiger Brands’ business needs and continuously identify new procurement value opportunities in line with the
Commodity Strategies. You will deliver cost savings projects focused on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization whilst ensuring
a healthy relationship with suppliers and business. You will also lead a team of sourcing specialists to support you in the execution
of the strategy. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

 

Developing and executing the sourcing strategy of the respective commodity
β–ͺ In depth technical reports, proposals or project briefs affecting one or more
business units
β–ͺ Explanation of complex products, services or concepts to internal or external
customers or clients
β–ͺ Negotiation with customers or suppliers over price, contracts or services
β–ͺ Written proposals or presentations aimed at changing practices within or
across business units or selling a product or service to external clients
β–ͺ Influences or changes specific administrative or operational practices affecting
more than one department/team/BU
β–ͺ Ensure that sourcing strategies safeguard supply through contingencies and
supply alternatives.
β–ͺ Apply supply management principles that build collaborative relationships with
suppliers, and business.
β–ͺ Collaborate with the Centre of Excellence Sourcing Analytics team

β–ͺ Monitor and manage contracts for the commodity and suppliers to ensure all
contracts are valid and risk is managed and mitigated proactively
β–ͺ Management of the relevant procurement processes including online
procurement platforms (Zycus etc) as well as related data management
processes ensuring full BU adoption
β–ͺ Ongoing change management of procurement operational processes where
required through written proposals or presentations aimed at changing
practices within or across business units or selling a product or service to
external clients
β–ͺ Compilation of procurement mandates and motivations for approval of contract
awards to Exco level as well as compilation of In-depth technical reports,
proposals or project briefs affecting one or more business unit
β–ͺ Provide budgetary input, quarterly cost forecasts, and Zero Based Budget
Management
β–ͺ Complete supplier evaluations, negotiations and price movements for all
categories allocated to this role
