Central Johannesburg TVET College invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for CLEANERS: REF NO: CJC/CLE/022/2024 (6 POSTS) at the Central Office. These positions are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control within college facilities.

Successful candidates will provide cleaning support services across departments and operational sites within the college environment. Candidates must be physically fit, reliable, and willing to work in different departments based on operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification:

• ABET / Standard 8 / Grade 10.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a cleaning environment will be advantageous.

Inherent Job Requirements:

• Must be physically fit to lift heavy objects.
• Willingness to rotate between departments and operational sites.

Knowledge and Competencies:

• Occupational Health and Safety Act knowledge.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning materials.
• Knowledge of hygiene standards and infection control.
• Knowledge of facilities policies and public service prescripts.
• Good communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Ability to operate cleaning machinery and equipment.
• Commitment to ethical and professional service delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning Services

• Provide cleaning support to supervisors and departments.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene within college facilities.
• Implement infection control standards.

Office and Facility Cleaning

• Clean offices, corridors, elevators, and boardrooms.
• Dust and polish office furniture.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and vacuum floors.
• Clean walls, windows, and general surfaces.

Waste Management

• Empty and clean dustbins daily.
• Collect and remove waste papers and refuse materials.

Kitchen and Restroom Cleaning

• Clean kitchen basins and surfaces.
• Wash and store kitchen utensils.
• Refill hand wash soap, toilet paper, and hand towels.
• Empty and sanitize restroom waste bins.

Equipment Maintenance

• Clean cleaning equipment such as microwaves and vacuum cleaners after use.
• Report damaged cleaning machines.
• Request cleaning materials when stock is low.

Operational Support

• Maintain storage of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Assist in cost-effective use of cleaning consumables.

The Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining safe and hygienic learning environments across the college campus.

Work Environment

Positions are based at Central Johannesburg TVET College Central Office.

Candidates must be prepared to work in different departments and sites depending on operational needs.
