Position Overview
The Department of Defence is seeking six dedicated Cleaners to support cleaning and hygiene operations at the 3 South African Infantry Battalion base in Kimberley.
This is an entry-level government job requiring only an ABET qualification. No prior cleaning experience is necessary — full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Facility Hygiene

Perform cleaning duties across offices, buildings, and facilities as directed by the supervisor.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.

Dust and polish office furniture and equipment.
-
Clean windows and ensure working spaces remain neat and presentable.

Maintain cleanliness of ablution facilities daily.
Maintenance & Reporting

Operate cleaning machines and basic hand tools (low complexity).

Perform basic upkeep and ensure equipment is functioning correctly.

Report defects, hazards, or maintenance needs to the supervisor immediately.
Teamwork & Operational Support

Work independently when required, but also collaborate effectively within a team.

Perform routine tasks consistently and follow strict cleaning schedules.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum ABET qualification.

Ability to communicate verbally in English.

Knowledge of basic cleaning tools and equipment.

Basic understanding of how to operate cleaning machines.

Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning duties.
