Department of Public Works – Cleaner Vacancies 2026

The Department of Public Works invites applications for CLEANER: CLEANING SERVICE (X13 POSTS) at the Nelspruit Regional Office. These positions are ideal for individuals who are committed to maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and a safe environment within departmental facilities.

Successful candidates will perform cleaning and maintenance duties across offices, courtrooms, and other designated areas to ensure a clean and organized environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 or Standard 8, ABET Level 4, or equivalent qualifications.
• No prior experience required.
• Good interpersonal skills and basic communication abilities.
• Literacy sufficient to understand cleaning procedures and safety instructions.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General Cleaning:

• Clean courtrooms, cells, offices, toilets, basins, and wall tiles.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors in offices, passages, and pavements.
• Dust and polish furniture, windows, doors, and walls.
• Vacuum offices and perform floor stripping as required.

Maintenance of Hygiene Standards:

• Ensure all work areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness.
• Follow safety and occupational health procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Report any hazards, damages, or irregularities to the supervisor.

Support Services:

• Assist in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Perform other cleaning duties as assigned by management to ensure service standards are met.
