Position Overview

The National Business Development Consultant – Catering is responsible for driving new sales growth nationally through self-generated leads and business referrals. This role involves selling catering solutions to clients with identified needs, managing the sales cycle from prospecting to project mobilisation, and ensuring smooth handover to Operations.

The position reports directly to the Managing Executive of the Catering Business Unit.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Generation

  • Cold call and leverage referrals to identify new qualified prospects.

  • Engage existing Servest customers to cross-sell catering services.

  • Set up appointments with potential clients to understand their needs.

  • Conduct site surveys to assess catering requirements.

  • Prepare and deliver quotations and presentations to potential customers.

Pipeline & Forecast Management

  • Manage and develop a sales pipeline.

  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly business forecasts.

  • Ensure all documentation for mobilisation is accurate and complete.

Project Mobilisation & Handover

  • Drive new project mobilisation with Operations teams until completion.

  • Handover successfully mobilised projects to Operations for ongoing management.

Performance Management

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

  • Maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business and referrals.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate.

  • 5+ years of new business (hunting) sales experience.

  • Proven track record of successful sales in service industries; catering experience is advantageous.

  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Own reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license.


Core Competencies

  • Experience selling complex technical solutions and service offerings at senior organisational levels.

  • Ability to understand technical components of integrated solutions and translate client needs into service offerings.

  • Strong business development expertise, including targeting new prospects, account planning, and consultative selling.

  • Solid financial acumen for proposal development and sales management.

  • Knowledge of facilities management equipment, materials, and service contracts.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and influence multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong negotiation, planning, and account management capabilities.
