Position Overview
Empact Group is recruiting a Catering Manager to oversee food service operations at a healthcare facility in Hermanus, Western Cape. The successful candidate will manage kitchen operations, menu planning, staff supervision, and food/labour cost management while ensuring compliance with HACCP and HSE standards.
This role is ideal for professionals with hospital catering experience, strong operational management skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional culinary services.
Key Responsibilities

Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Implement and monitor the production process for all meals.

Develop and plan menus according to dietary requirements and nutritional standards.

Manage food and labour costs, balancing budgets and controlling soft costs.

Lead, coach, and supervise the kitchen brigade, fostering a high-performance team.

Ensure full compliance with HACCP, HSE, and relevant food safety regulations.

Oversee special diets and patient-specific nutritional requirements in healthcare settings.

Maintain accurate records and reports for kitchen operations.

Contribute to strategic planning for the catering unit.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
-
Relevant tertiary qualification in food and beverage services or culinary arts
Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years of progressive kitchen management or catering leadership
-
Experience working within budget guidelines to deliver results
-
High-volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable

Previous hospital or healthcare catering experience essential
Skills and Competencies:

Strong knowledge of HACCP, HSE, and food safety standards

Understanding of special diets and nutrition requirements

Excellent management, communication, and customer service skills
