Position Overview
Empact Group is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Catering Manager (Healthcare) to join its Food Solutions Division in Cape Town, Western Cape.
The successful candidate will oversee the daily management of all food service operations, ensuring that meals are prepared and delivered in compliance with HACCP standards, client expectations, and healthcare dietary regulations. This role requires a highly organized professional with a strong background in hospital catering, budget management, and team leadership.
As the Catering Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining top-quality standards in food service, cost control, staff supervision, and overall customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Production Management

Oversee all food service operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards.

Manage the daily operations of the kitchen and catering unit, ensuring smooth workflow and productivity.

Implement and maintain production processes that align with Empact Group’s operational guidelines.

Ensure compliance with HACCP and HSE standards, guaranteeing the safety and quality of all meals served.

Develop and implement menus and recipes that are nutritious, cost-effective, and meet healthcare dietary requirements.
Financial Management

Manage food and labour costs effectively to maintain profitability and operational efficiency.

Operate within defined budget guidelines, ensuring financial performance targets are met.

Analyse costs, monitor usage, and implement strategies to reduce wastage and improve margins.
People Leadership

Lead, mentor, and motivate the kitchen and service team to achieve operational excellence.

Ensure efficient workforce planning and adherence to company policies and labour legislation.

Drive performance through coaching, development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client Relations and Service Excellence

Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent service delivery and communication.

Ensure client satisfaction through regular feedback, quality control, and responsiveness to operational needs.

Manage service-level agreements and ensure all operations align with contractual commitments.
Compliance and Safety

Enforce compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.

Maintain accurate documentation for all food safety audits and inspections.

Promote a safety-first culture within the kitchen and broader team.
Minimum Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification in Food and Beverage Services, Culinary Arts, or Hospitality Management (compulsory).

Minimum 3 years’ experience in progressive kitchen or catering management (compulsory).

Proven ability to work within budget guidelines and deliver financial results.

Experience in high-volume, complex food service operations (desirable).

Prior hospital catering experience is essential.

Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards (advantageous).

Knowledge of special diets and hospital-specific nutritional standards (compulsory).

Computer literate with excellent administrative and planning skills.
