Part-Time Retail Opportunity in Brooklyn Mall

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is currently recruiting for a Casual Merchandiser – Brooklyn Mall position in Pretoria, Gauteng. This part-time opportunity falls within the Retail division and Operations functional area. The position was posted on 26 February 2026 and closes on 12 March 2026.

This entry-level opportunity is ideal for candidates with up to six months of retail experience who are looking to grow within a well-established retail environment. The role focuses on maintaining merchandising standards, ensuring product availability, and delivering excellent customer service.

Purpose of the Role

The Casual Merchandiser will ensure that basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained within the store. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining neat and fully stocked shelves while assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner.

By maintaining strong merchandising standards and delivering quality service, the Merchandiser supports sales growth and enhances the overall customer shopping experience.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric.

Up to 6 months’ retail experience.

Computer literacy in MS Office.

Willing and able to work retail hours.

Advantageous Requirements

At least 1 year retail experience.

Bilingual ability.

Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.

Product and category knowledge.

Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Replenishment and Merchandising

Restock merchandise as needed to ensure maximum sales.

Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed in the correct space timeously.

Ensure that stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date.

Ensure the full product range is available on shelves at all times.

Facilitate stock rotation on a regular FIFO basis.

Build, face up, stock and maintain merchandising displays.

Ensure front shop shelves are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.

Report price discrepancies to management.

Keep up to date with current and new products.

Minimise losses by handling merchandise carefully.

Stock Control and Reporting

Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock and expired stock to management.

Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.

Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.

Ensure all out-of-stock customer queries are followed up using the customer service out-of-stock list.

Assist with loading and off-loading of stock.

Be responsible for designated stock in both the storeroom and on the shop floor.

Store Maintenance and Compliance

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout and planograms.

Ensure boxes are flattened after unpacking stock and moved to the designated area.

Maintain daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays.

Assist with back shopping.

Assist in training new staff members when required.

Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.

Adhere strictly to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs and health and safety regulations.

Report any bad or suspicious behaviour relating to staff or customers.

Customer Service

Provide friendly, helpful and courteous assistance to all customers.

Ensure all customer stock queries are handled and resolved effectively.

Maintain effective engagement with customers, management and staff at all times.
