Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Cashier at their Magalieshill store in Rustenburg, North West.
The Cashier will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service at the point of sale, ensuring accurate transaction processing and maintaining the highest standards of efficiency, accuracy, and honesty in every interaction. This position is ideal for a reliable, detail-oriented professional with strong communication and numeracy skills.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding customer service by adhering to Dis-Chem’s service standards and procedures.

Build positive relationships with customers and address queries professionally.

Accurately record customer transactions on the operating system, following Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Report customer feedback, compliments, and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or Store Manager.

Process all sales and returns in compliance with store policies.

Ensure all transactions (cash, card, vouchers, coupons, etc.) are correctly processed.

Handle loyalty programme transactions, including those for Discovery Health, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.

Maintain cash security by placing all takings in the drop safe according to SOPs.

Restrict code and password access to yourself and change passwords regularly.

Be aware of ongoing sales, promotions, and product updates.

Ensure customer and staff safety by adhering to Dis-Chem’s risk management policies.

Recognise and report suspicious activities or potential theft.

Maintain professionalism and ensure all stock leaving the store is scanned and paid for.

Comply with Dis-Chem’s security, financial, and ethical standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
-
At least 6 months’ experience as a cashier or in till operations.

Computer literacy (MS Office).

Sound numerical and cash handling skills.

Excellent command of English (written and verbal).

Basic understanding of customer service principles.

Willingness to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Advantageous

Fluency in a third South African language.

Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or retail store.
