Brights Hardware is a trusted hardware retail leader serving DIY customers, contractors, and professionals across South Africa. The Stonewood branch is looking for a customer-focused Cashier to ensure efficient checkout operations, accurate transaction processing, and exceptional service delivery.

Position Overview

The Cashier is responsible for maintaining smooth, efficient point-of-sale functions, ensuring accurate ringing up of items, processing payments, and delivering excellent frontline service. You will uphold store standards, assist customers professionally, and contribute to continuous business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly upon entering the store

  • Follow established cash-up procedures

  • Verify cash received from customers

  • Process EFT and other payments

  • Accurately ring up sales at the till

  • Pack customer purchases into shopping bags

  • Hand over cash drops to the supervisor for security

  • Complete daily cash-ups

  • Maintain awareness of suspicious behaviour and prevent shrinkage

  • Stay updated on promotional items

  • Issue gift cards and validate customer reward cards

  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness at the till area

  • Participate in perpetual stock takes

  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • At least 1 year experience in a Cashier or retail frontline role

  • Clear credit score

  • Completion of Brights Induction (Service Excellence)

  • Strong numerical ability

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently or in a team

  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
