Position Overview

Voltex is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cable Yard Supervisor for its Briardene branch. Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and stores operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow, adherence to safety and operational standards, and optimal team performance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in warehouse operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage both people and stock in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse and Stock Supervision

  • Supervise all bulk storage operations including cable receipt, storage, and dispatch.

  • Ensure received cables are packaged according to Voltex specifications.

  • Monitor supplier vehicle off-loading and maintain control of goods receiving areas.

  • Track and monitor stock levels, including daily cycle counts of critical items.

  • Verify correct items and quantities are pulled and loaded for dispatch.

  • Ensure proper packaging, quality control, and accurate loading of all outbound stock.

2. Team Management and Safety

  • Oversee team members to ensure operational objectives are consistently met.

  • Ensure unauthorized personnel do not operate cable machines.

  • Maintain warehouse security at all times, safeguarding stock and equipment.

  • Ensure the cable yard and warehouse are kept neat, organized, and safe.

  • Enforce adherence to relevant safety standards and protective clothing requirements.

3. Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all required paperwork is completed for transactions.

  • Conduct stock counts and assist with periodic stock taking.

  • Manage general administrative responsibilities to support branch operations.

  • Report operational issues and process improvements to the Branch Manager.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification is essential.

  • Minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience in a warehouse or stores environment is highly advantageous.

  • Valid forklift license required.

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Excellent electrical product knowledge.

  • Understanding of warehouse processes and inventory management.

  • Knowledge of safety standards, protective clothing, and workplace compliance.
