Position Overview

The Branch Supervisor is responsible for the operational management and supervision of Takealot’s Western Cape Distribution Centre, with a particular focus on fleet operations and last-mile deliveries. This role reports directly to the Branch Manager.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, solutions-oriented, and capable of leading a team in a fast-paced, dynamic logistics environment.


Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Delivery Management

  • Supervise fleet operations and all secondary functions related to deliveries.

  • Ensure timely delivery of products to and from the distribution centre.

  • Maintain fleet readiness and schedule vehicle services.

  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.

  • Promote orderliness, cleanliness, and adherence to company standards.

Operational Management

  • Conduct daily meetings with staff focused on KPIs and operational feedback.

  • Work closely with management to identify and resolve operational issues.

  • Ensure drivers follow procedures and enforce discipline where necessary.

  • Work with labour brokers to ensure drivers and assistants are available for last-mile deliveries.

  • Complete accident and incident reports and submit them to relevant parties.

Cost & Resource Management

  • Monitor fleet costs and report to the Branch Manager.

  • Manage staff and overtime efficiently to control labour costs.

Reporting & Administration

  • Extract data and generate reports to support performance tracking and decision-making.

  • Ensure cash-on-delivery (COD) is reconciled daily.

  • Maintain accurate administrative documentation and records.

  • Ensure KPI reports and meeting minutes are up to date and distributed timely.

People Management

  • Train and supervise drivers and administrative staff.

  • Manage attendance, absenteeism, and staff corrective actions.

  • Conduct formal staff appraisals, coaching, development, and disciplinary procedures.

  • Provide structured leadership to motivate and inspire the team.

SHE, Risk, Quality & 5S Duties

  • Implement and maintain 5S housekeeping standards.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including COVID-19 protocols.

  • Act as a Fire Fighter in your appointment, ensuring all safety measures are followed.

  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of vehicle tracking systems.

  • Experience managing people to deliver continuous improvement.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12, tertiary qualification preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience managing a commercial vehicle fleet.

  • Proven track record in operations, logistics, or distribution centre supervision.
