About the Role

The Assistant Operator (Reliever – Beverages Packaging) provides operational support to the packaging team by temporarily filling in for absent or unavailable staff. This ensures smooth production flow, minimal downtime, and consistent adherence to company quality and safety standards.

This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to operate across different packaging lines depending on operational requirements. The Assistant Operator must be able to step into various roles within the packaging environment while maintaining production targets and hygiene standards.

The position is essential to ensuring that beverage packaging processes such as bottling, labeling, sealing, and palletizing continue without interruption during shift changes or staff shortages.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring beverage packaging machinery, including bottling, labeling, sealing, and palletizing equipment.

The role ensures that packaging materials such as bottles, cans, labels, and cartons are available, correctly loaded, and ready for use to prevent production delays.

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the packaging area in line with hygiene standards is a critical part of the role.

Routine checks must be conducted to ensure that packaging quality meets company specifications and standards.

Any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards must be reported promptly to supervisors to prevent downtime and maintain a safe working environment.

The Assistant Operator must follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply fully with health, safety, and food safety regulations.

The role includes assisting in inventory control of packaging materials when required.

Operational support may be provided across different packaging lines depending on production needs.

Collaboration with team members is required to ensure daily production targets are met.

Working Environment

This position operates within a fast-paced production environment.

The Assistant Operator will be required to stand for extended periods during shifts.

Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and packaged beverage products forms part of the normal working conditions.

Shift-based work is required, which may include weekends and public holidays depending on operational demands.

Qualifications and Skills
