Minimum Requirements:
-
Three-year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6) or higher.
-
Compulsory registration with SACNASP.
-
Valid driverβs license.
-
No prior experience required.
-
Knowledge of extension methodology, good verbal and written communication, basic reporting, and public speaking skills.
-
Understanding of group dynamics and ability to communicate with clients and farmers.
-
Willingness to physically visit farms and projects within the assigned districts.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Provide general agricultural advice to internal and external clients to promote sustainable development.
-
Assist in demonstrating farming methods and efficient utilization of resources (soil, water, veld, finances, etc.).
-
Support farmer days, information sessions, and meetings to identify training needs.
-
Conduct farm visits, assess impact, and contribute to development of farm business plans.
-
Provide technical support for agricultural projects, food security initiatives, and land development programs.
-
Assist in forming and mobilizing farmer groups, cooperatives, and associations.
-
Facilitate capacity building and aftercare for farmers and clients.
-
Promote sustainable agricultural production using best practices and latest technologies.
-
Maintain accurate records, including a farmer register and relevant databases.

Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reports.

Comply with Public Service prescripts, departmental policies, procedures, and technological developments.

Safeguard physical assets where applicable.
