Motus Corporation is offering an excellent Apprentice Level 2 opportunity at Multifranchise Menlyn on a permanent basis in Pretoria, Gauteng. This role is ideally suited to an entry-level candidate with a genuine interest in motor vehicle repairs who aspires to build a long-term career as a Motor Mechanic Technician within the automotive industry.
The position forms part of a structured Apprentice Training Programme and provides hands-on exposure to vehicle servicing and repairs under the guidance of qualified technicians and workshop leadership.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Manager: Service, the Apprentice Level 2 will assist qualified technicians with the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles while developing technical competence and practical workshop experience. This role is designed to build foundational mechanical skills through supervised work, formal technical training, and strict adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to personal development within a professional workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Repair Assistance and Workshop Support
The apprentice will assist with vehicle repairs under the direct instruction and supervision of a qualified technician. This includes removing and replacing parts or units, assisting with general mechanical repairs, and supporting technicians with day-to-day workshop activities.
Mechanical and Technical Duties
Key duties include jacking up vehicles and placing trestles, removing and fitting wheels, assisting with oil changes and lubrication according to manufacturer specifications, and replacing air and oil filters. The apprentice will also assist with battery removal and installation as part of routine vehicle servicing.
Parts Handling and Housekeeping
The role requires cleaning of parts, maintaining a tidy work environment, and ensuring that tools and equipment are kept clean and in good working order. The apprentice must keep overalls clean and maintain high standards of workshop housekeeping at all times.
Training and Skills Development
The Apprentice Level 2 is required to attend prescribed technical and level-based training courses as part of the formal apprenticeship programme. Continuous learning and skills development are critical components of this role.
Safety and Compliance
Strict adherence to workshop safety rules and procedures is mandatory. The apprentice must follow all health and safety guidelines, use tools responsibly, and comply with all reasonable instructions provided by supervisors and management.
