Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Zevenwacht branch. The successful candidate will assist in the provision of pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients’ medicine-related needs are effectively met while maintaining legal, ethical, and professional standards.
This role is ideal for a qualified, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about patient care and committed to maintaining accuracy and compliance in all pharmacy operations.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
-
Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
-
Working experience on Unisolv
-
Computer literate (MS Office)
-
Strong numerical skills and English communication ability
-
Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:
-
Knowledge of Retail / FMCG operations
-
A third additional language
-
Knowledge or experience in SAP and E-Scripting
-
Familiarity with drug and family planning products, and complementary medicine
Key Responsibilities
-
Assist with the sale, compounding, manipulation, and preparation of medicines and scheduled substances under pharmacist supervision.
-
Ensure the safe and accurate repackaging, distribution, and control of Schedule 1 to 6 medicines.
-
Accurately interpret prescriptions and verify patient details in the system.
-
Capture, pick, label, and check medication orders while maintaining compliance with SAPC standards.

Provide patients with clear instructions and advice regarding correct medicine usage.

Ensure accurate medical aid claims processing and resolve rejected claims efficiently.

Support the dispensary manager with stock control, ordering, and report management.

Monitor stock levels and report low or out-of-stock items.

Maintain dispensary stock according to FEFO standards and participate in bi-annual stock takes.

Deliver professional, friendly, and responsible patient service at all times.
