Position Overview

Unitrans is seeking a proactive and highly organized Fleet Controller for its Secunda branch. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the incumbent will oversee fleet operations, handle administrative duties, supervise driver activities, and ensure effective utilization and tracking of vehicles.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining smooth fleet operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, and supporting drivers in delivering timely and safe transport services.


Key Responsibilities

1. Fleet Administration

  • Handle all administrative tasks related to fleet operations.

  • Capture and maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, breakdowns, and maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

2. Driver Supervision and Support

  • Supervise and control driver activities to ensure compliance with company procedures.

  • Assist drivers with operational challenges and resolve on-road or logistical issues.

  • Monitor driver performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency and safety.

3. Fleet Monitoring and Utilization

  • Track and monitor trucks in real-time to ensure optimal utilization.

  • Monitor progress of deliveries and provide updates to operations and customers.

  • Coordinate additional orders and communicate factory or operational issues to customers promptly.

4. Customer Support and Issue Resolution

  • Liaise with customers to resolve delivery or fleet-related problems.

  • Ensure proactive communication between the operations team, drivers, and customers.

  • Assist in coordinating urgent or special requests efficiently.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification is essential.

  • Previous administration experience in a fleet, transport, or logistics environment.

  • Computer literate with proficiency in data capturing and office software.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and under pressure.

  • Reliable, assertive, and proactive with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
