Position Overview
SANRAL is seeking nine (9) experienced Receptionists to join its team across various regional offices nationwide. The primary objective of this position is to act as the first point of contact for all visitors and callers, ensuring a professional, friendly, and efficient reception service.
The successful candidate will manage and coordinate front desk activities, operate the switchboard, handle visitor communications, and provide administrative support in alignment with SANRAL’s professional standards and operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements

National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
-
A post-matric qualification in office administration or business management will be an added advantage

Three (3) years’ reception and switchboard experience in a corporate or government environment

Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Technical Competencies

Knowledge of phone systems and switchboard operations

Familiarity with general office machines (copiers, printers, scanners)

Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Professional telephone etiquette and client-facing conduct

Excellent organizational and time management abilities

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Key Responsibilities
Frontline and Visitor Management
-
Greet and welcome visitors professionally, determining the nature of their business and directing them to the appropriate offices or departments
-
Liaise with security personnel to ensure visitor logs and access control procedures are followed
-
Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area stocked with necessary stationery and materials
-
Ensure consistent professionalism and hospitality across all guest interactions
-
Receive and distribute mail and courier deliveries while maintaining an accurate register
Switchboard and Communication Management
-
Answer incoming calls courteously and route them to the correct individuals or departments
-
Respond to general inquiries, take messages, and relay information promptly
-
Maintain and update telephone directories and switchboard lists
-
Ensure voicemail messages and missed calls are attended to efficiently
Administrative and Office Support

Manage boardroom bookings and maintain an electronic and paper-based diary of meetings

Assist with travel arrangements, meeting coordination, and catering logistics when required

Support registry and filing systems to ensure records are accurately maintained

Handle stationery inventory, stock-taking, and requisition processes

Provide minute-taking support and assist with meeting arrangements as needed
Health, Safety, and Emergency Support

Actively participate in OHS emergency evacuation procedures as part of the office response team

Identify and report any suspicious activities or security concerns within the reception area
