About the Role

Lion Sands, part of the MORE Collection portfolio of luxury safari and hospitality properties, operates in one of the most iconic wilderness areas in southern Africa — the Sabi Sand Game Reserve near Hazyview, Mpumalanga. As Finance Administrator, you will play a central supporting role in ensuring the smooth and accurate operation of the property’s financial and administrative functions. From processing purchase orders and managing daily revenue records, to organising invoice filing systems and supporting monthly stock takes, your work underpins the financial integrity of the entire property.

This role is well suited to a candidate who is methodical, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple administrative tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will work closely with the property finance team and management, supporting both day-to-day operations and monthly reporting cycles with accuracy and professionalism. A minimum of one year of administrative or accounting experience — ideally within a hospitality or operational setting — is required, along with solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with digital document management tools such as SharePoint.

The Finance Administrator at Lion Sands is also expected to live and embody the MORE Collection brand values — approaching every task with awareness, generosity, a collaborative spirit, and a continuous improvement mindset — and to handle all sensitive financial information with the discretion and confidentiality that the role demands.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Administration & Cash Management

  • Create and process purchase orders in line with company procedures, ensuring all documentation is accurate and appropriately authorised.
  • Collate and verify payment requests for approval, checking completeness and compliance with company financial procedures before submission.
  • Maintain and update the cash management spreadsheet on a daily basis, ensuring accuracy and currency of all recorded transactions.
  • Conduct End of Day (EOD) checks to validate revenue accuracy, identifying and escalating any discrepancies promptly.
  • Update and maintain the daily revenue workbook, ensuring all revenue entries are captured correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Distribute proof of payments to relevant internal and external stakeholders accurately and without delay.

Invoice & Document Control

  • Scan, upload, and manage invoices on SharePoint or other designated digital platforms, ensuring all documents are correctly indexed and accessible.
  • Organise and maintain physical and electronic filing systems at the property, ensuring all financial documents are stored in a logical, retrievable, and audit-ready manner.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all uploaded and filed documentation, flagging missing or incomplete records to the relevant team member.

Stock & Inventory Support

  • Print stock take count sheets for operational departments ahead of scheduled stock takes, ensuring the correct templates and product lists are used.
  • Capture stock take results into the designated system accurately and within required timeframes following each stock count.
  • Compile and update the inventory workbook monthly, maintaining a current and accurate record of stock movement and closing balances across the property.

Systems & Operational Support

  • Share EFTSure verification links with relevant suppliers and stakeholders as required, supporting the property’s payment security processes.
  • Provide general administrative and financial support to property teams as directed, adapting to the evolving operational needs of a busy luxury safari property.
  • Support the broader finance and management team with ad hoc reporting, data capture, and administrative tasks as required.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric — minimum educational requirement
  • A relevant certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration would be advantageous

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of administrative or accounting experience, ideally within a hospitality or operational environment
  • Prior exposure to financial administration processes — including purchase orders, payment requests, invoicing, and revenue reconciliation — will be a strong advantage

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel — including spreadsheet management, basic formulas, and data entry
  • Experience working with digital document management tools such as SharePoint or equivalent platforms
  • Familiarity with EFTSure or similar payment verification tools is advantageous
  • Ability to work with property management or accounting systems relevant to the hospitality sector

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy — a non-negotiable requirement given the financial nature of the role

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small property administration team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and courteous approach to internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with full confidentiality and discretion at all times

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and organised, with the ability to anticipate administrative needs and act without being prompted
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment, adapting calmly to shifting priorities and urgent requests
  • Collaborative and professionally mature, with a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to support the broader property team
  • Aligned with the MORE Collection brand values of awareness, generosity, diversity, and continuous improvement

  • Exposure to stock take processes and inventory management within a hospitality context
  • Experience with SharePoint or cloud-based document management systems in a professional setting

Core Values

Be AWARE

In a finance administration role, awareness is accuracy. The Finance Administrator at Lion Sands is the person who catches the discrepancy in the revenue workbook before it becomes a reporting problem, who notices the invoice that has not yet been filed, and who flags the EOD variance before the management team has to ask. MORE Collection’s “thoughtful” value — eyes and ears open, arrive ready, be human — means showing up to every task fully present and fully attentive, because in financial administration, the details that go unnoticed are the ones that matter most.

Respond GENEROUSLY

The Finance Administrator supports multiple teams across the property — the finance team, property management, operational departments, and external suppliers — and does so in an environment where speed, accuracy, and a helpful disposition are equally important. MORE Collection’s “more” value — always respond, give more, do more, have a mindset of abundance — means approaching every request and every stakeholder interaction with genuine willingness, even when the workload is demanding and the deadlines are tight. A generous response is not just a timely one; it is a complete, accurate, and professionally delivered one.

Strength in DIVERSITY

Lion Sands is a property where colleagues come from diverse cultural, linguistic, and professional backgrounds, and the Finance Administrator works across all of them — processing purchase orders for the kitchen, supporting stock takes in housekeeping, and coordinating payment verifications for suppliers across different regions. MORE Collection’s “family” value — act in harmony, work together, act inclusively — means approaching every cross-departmental interaction with respect, patience, and a genuine commitment to collective success, regardless of function or seniority.

Make it BETTER

Financial administration is never truly “done” — there is always a process that could be more efficient, a filing system that could be better organised, a spreadsheet that could be more clearly structured, or a reporting cycle that could be tightened. MORE Collection’s “continuous improvement” value — positively influence, keep learning, own it — means the Finance Administrator takes personal ownership of the quality of their output, actively looks for ways to improve the systems they manage, and brings a growth mindset to every aspect of their role. Owning it means not waiting for someone else to fix what you have the capability to improve.

Confidentiality & Integrity

Financial administration carries an inherent responsibility that extends beyond technical accuracy — it demands a personal standard of integrity in how sensitive information is handled, stored, and shared. At Lion Sands, the Finance Administrator is entrusted with payment data, supplier information, revenue figures, and cost records that require the highest level of discretion. Living this value means understanding that confidentiality is not a procedural requirement but a professional standard, and upholding it consistently — in every conversation, every filing decision, and every information-sharing interaction.

Career Growth Opportunities

MORE Collection supports the professional development of its administration and finance team members, and the Finance Administrator role is a strong foundation for growth into broader financial and operational management within the hospitality sector. With demonstrated accuracy, proactive ownership, and a commitment to the MORE brand values, you can progress through the following stages:

  • Finance Administrator → Senior Finance Administrator
  • Senior Finance Administrator → Property Accountant
  • Property Accountant → Financial Manager
  • Financial Manager → Group Finance Manager

Your career path is in your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What salary does MORE Collection offer for this Finance Administrator position? The salary for this position is market related and will be discussed and confirmed during the interview and offer process. MORE Collection benchmarks remuneration competitively within the South African luxury hospitality sector, and the final package will reflect your level of administrative and financial experience, your technical proficiency in Excel and SharePoint, and any prior hospitality finance exposure you bring. Given that this is a property-based role at Lion Sands in the Sabi Sand, the package may include accommodation and meals on property — the full details of the remuneration and benefits structure will be discussed during the selection process.

Is this a live-in or rotational position at the Lion Sands property? Lion Sands is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve near Hazyview, Mpumalanga — a remote, bush-based environment that typically requires administration and finance staff to be based on property, often on a rotational roster. The specific roster structure, live-in arrangements, and associated benefits will be confirmed during the interview process. Candidates must be genuinely comfortable with the remote location and the lifestyle that comes with working at a luxury safari property in a wilderness reserve.

What level of Excel proficiency is expected for this role? Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is listed as a firm requirement rather than a preference. The role involves maintaining and updating cash management spreadsheets and daily revenue workbooks, capturing stock take data, and compiling monthly inventory records — all of which require confident and accurate Excel capability. Candidates should be comfortable with data entry, basic formulas, spreadsheet organisation, and managing multi-tab workbooks. Experience at an advanced Excel level — including pivot tables or more complex formula structures — would be advantageous but is not a minimum requirement.

What does the stock and inventory support component of this role involve? The Finance Administrator plays a supporting role in the property’s stock management cycle rather than leading it. Responsibilities include printing the relevant stock take count sheets for each operational department ahead of scheduled counts, accurately capturing the results into the designated system following the count, and compiling and updating the inventory workbook on a monthly basis. While you will not be managing the stock takes themselves, your accuracy in capturing and recording the data directly affects the quality of the property’s monthly stock reporting.

When does this vacancy close, and how should I apply? The closing date for applications is 31 July 2026. Applications should be submitted through the channel on which this vacancy is advertised, accompanied by a current CV and any relevant supporting documentation. Given the specialist nature of this role within a luxury hospitality environment, early application is recommended. Should you not receive a response within a reasonable period following the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Is prior hospitality experience essential, or will finance administration experience from other sectors be considered? Prior experience within a hospitality or operational environment is listed as the ideal context for this role, but it is not stated as a hard minimum requirement. Candidates from other sectors who can demonstrate at least one year of sound financial or administrative experience, strong Excel proficiency, and the organisational capability to manage multiple concurrent tasks will be considered. That said, candidates who bring prior lodge, hotel, or safari property administration experience will have a meaningful advantage in understanding the pace, structure, and stakeholder dynamics of this specific environment.
