The Fidelity Fire Solutions team in Boksburg plays a vital role in providing rapid fire protection, hazard mitigation, and rescue operations across commercial, industrial, and residential client properties in Gauteng. As a Junior Fire Fighter, you will operate under the guidance, mentorship, and direct supervision of senior officers to respond to frontline fire and emergency calls.

This position balances active frontline emergency response with ongoing operational preparation. You will be trained and mentored to operate mobile and fixed breathing apparatus, manage hazardous substance incidents, execute casualty extrications, and conduct routine equipment maintenance. Key Responsibilities

Frontline Emergency Response & Rescue

• Respond to structural fires, rescue calls, hazardous substance incidents, and humanitarian emergencies under senior supervision.

• Safely extricate and release casualties trapped in structures or vehicles using specialized rescue machinery.

• Administer First Aid (Levels 1 to 3), basic medical care, and resuscitation as a certified responder or Basic Ambulance Attendant.

• Operate pumps, hose lines, extinguishing systems, and mobile or fixed breathing apparatus on scene.

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance

• Perform daily inspection checks, cleaning, testing, and maintenance on firefighting appliances, gear, and tools to maintain operational readiness.

• Log all daily operational activities and incident occurrences into computerized occurrence logs.

• Conduct minor, shift-level maintenance on protective equipment and emergency apparatus.

Fire Prevention, Inspections & Training

• Assist with health and safety inspections across facilities to identify fire hazards and enforce OHS compliance.

• Participate in mandatory training drills, simulation exercises, and continuous physical fitness conditioning.

• Support senior officers in conducting basic fire safety training for internal employees and clients.

Minimum Requirements

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate (Matric) — essential minimum requirement

• IFSAC Accredited — essential

• NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 / Firefighter II Certification — essential

• Hazmat knowledge and practical experience — essential

• EMT Certification, First Aid Levels 1 to 3, or Basic Ambulance Attendant (BAA) — essential / highly advantageous

Experience & Licensing

• At least 2 years of related firefighting experience — essential

• Valid, unendorsed vehicle driver’s license (Advanced driving experience is advantageous)

• Clear criminal record (mandatory background screening will be conducted)

Physical Fitness & Core Competencies

• Medically and physically fit to execute heavy physical tasks in high-stress environments.

• Strong understanding of fire chemistry, classes of fire, and fire prevention procedures.

• Solid communication skills (verbal and written) and basic computer literacy for occurrence logging.
