Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Engage customers on the shop floor, identify their needs, and guide them to the most suitable tools or machinery products
- Deliver a consistently professional, friendly, and knowledgeable service experience throughout each interaction
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and product returns in line with branch procedures and company standards
- Drive branch sales through proactive floor engagement, effective upselling, and strong product awareness
- Build lasting customer relationships that encourage repeat visits and brand loyalty
Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Ensure all products are correctly priced, labelled, and displayed in accordance with company merchandising standards
- Maintain well-organised, visually appealing product displays across all areas of the store
- Restock shelves promptly to ensure product availability is maintained throughout trading hours
- Identify and action damaged, incorrectly placed, or unlabelled stock without delay
- Support the setup of promotional displays and seasonal floor changes as directed by the branch supervisor
Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Participate in regular stock takes and ongoing cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory records
- Monitor stock levels and report on fast-moving lines, discrepancies, or shortages to the relevant supervisor
- Receive, verify, and process incoming stock deliveries in accordance with established branch procedures
- Assist with the organisation and upkeep of the stockroom to ensure efficient stock retrieval
- Flag any instances of stock loss, shrinkage, or variance through the appropriate internal channels
Branch Operations & Administration
- Adhere to all branch procedures, company policies, and health and safety requirements at all times
- Operate point-of-sale systems accurately and responsibly when required
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment throughout the store across all trading hours
- Support opening and closing procedures as rostered by management
- Assist supervisors and colleagues with ad hoc operational tasks as required by the branch

Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Senior Certificate (Matric) — minimum requirement
Experience
- Previous exposure to a retail sales environment is preferred
- Experience in merchandising, stock taking, stock control, and general retail branch operations is advantageous
Technical Skills
- Basic computer literacy is beneficial for day-to-day branch administration
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or retail software is an advantage
Knowledge Requirements
- Technical knowledge of DIY tools, hardware, or machinery is a strong advantage
