Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Assist customers on the shop floor by identifying their needs and recommending appropriate tools or machinery products
• Deliver a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service experience at all times
• Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns in accordance with branch procedures
• Drive sales through proactive engagement, upselling, and product awareness
• Build repeat customer relationships through consistent, reliable service

Merchandising & Store Presentation

• Ensure all products are correctly priced, labelled, and displayed according to merchandising standards
• Maintain visually appealing and logically organised product displays throughout the store
• Restock shelves promptly and ensure product availability is maintained at all times
• Identify and action any damaged, expired, or incorrectly placed stock
• Support promotional setups and seasonal display changes as directed by management

Stock Control & Inventory Management

• Participate in regular stock takes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy
• Monitor and report on stock levels, discrepancies, and fast-moving lines
• Receive, verify, and process incoming stock deliveries in line with branch procedures
• Assist with the organisation and maintenance of the stockroom
• Flag any stock losses, shrinkage concerns, or variances to the branch supervisor

Branch Operations & Administration

• Adhere to all branch procedures, health and safety requirements, and company policies
• Operate point-of-sale systems accurately when required
• Maintain general cleanliness and order throughout the store at all times
• Support opening and closing procedures as rostered
• Assist colleagues and management with ad hoc operational duties as required

Team Collaboration & Development

• Function as a cooperative and dependable team player within the branch
• Participate in training sessions, product knowledge workshops, and development programmes
• Share product insights and customer feedback with supervisors to improve service delivery

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) — minimum requirement

Experience

• Previous exposure to a retail sales environment is preferred
• Experience in merchandising, stock taking, stock control, and general retail branch procedures is advantageous

Technical Skills

• Basic computer literacy is beneficial
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or retail software is an advantage

Knowledge Requirements

• Technical knowledge of DIY tools, hardware, or machinery is a strong advantage
• Understanding of general retail operations and customer service best practices
