WHAT DOES A SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICER DO?

A Senior Administration Officer: Operations is responsible for delivering Unemployment Insurance services, ensuring that claims are processed efficiently and accurately while maintaining high standards of customer service.

The role includes supervising staff, managing operational resources, ensuring compliance with UIF legislation, and supporting service delivery in Labour Centres. The ideal candidate is organised, analytical, and committed to public service excellence.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

UIF Service Delivery

  • Provide Unemployment Insurance services to clients
  • Assist customers with claims and enquiries
  • Ensure adherence to Batho Pele Principles
  • Deliver efficient and professional client service

Claims Processing & Administration

  • Administer UI claims and processing services
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with UIA and UICA regulations
  • Perform quality assurance and follow-ups on applications
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Operations & Resource Management

  • Supervise human resources within the section
  • Manage financial and operational resources
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and assets
  • Support operational efficiency and service delivery

Compliance & Policy Implementation

  • Ensure compliance with UIF policies and procedures
  • Apply POPIA and data protection requirements
  • Monitor adherence to government regulations
  • Maintain high standards of governance and accountability

Reporting & Coordination

  • Compile operational reports and performance data
  • Support management with planning and decision-making
  • Coordinate workflow and ensure timely service delivery
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

🎓 Educational Qualifications

  • NQF Level 6 qualification in:
    • Business Administration / Management
    • Public Administration / Management
    • Operations / Accounting / Finance
  • Qualification must be recognised by SAQA

💼 Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in:
    • Client services environment
    • Claims processing environment
    • Operations or insurance environment

💻 Technical Skills

  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to manage UI systems and records

📚 Knowledge Requirements

  • Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA)
  • Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA)
  • UIF policies and procedures
  • POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act)
  • Batho Pele Principles
