What Does a Government Food Service Aid Do?
Food Service Aids are essential to the daily catering and dining operations at Air Force Base Langebaanweg. Key Responsibilities of a Food Service Aid
Food Preparation & Serving
- Hygienically prepare food — including washing, cutting, and cooking — to the required standards.
- Serve food and drinks to dining personnel in a professional and hygienic manner.
- Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and drinks as required.
- Supply water on dining tables throughout meal service.
Kitchen & Dining Hall Maintenance
- Keep the kitchen, dining hall, and food storage areas clean and tidy at all times.
- Remove all kitchen waste in accordance with hygiene and waste management requirements.
- Wash and clean up thoroughly after meals.
- Apply a high standard of hygiene and safety measures throughout the work environment.
Table Setting & Waiting
- Set tables including decoration thereof prior to meal service.
- Wait on tables and ensure a professional dining experience for all personnel.
- Ensure tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset promptly after each meal service.
Food Storage & Supplies Management
- Pack and organise supplies received into food storage areas correctly.
- Ensure food storage areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with food safety requirements.
- Ensure only authorised personnel have access to the kitchen and consume meals.
Equipment Serviceability & Reporting
- Ensure the serviceability of all kitchen and food service equipment at all times.
- Report any equipment defects or shortages to the supervisor immediately.
- Handle all equipment with care and in accordance with operational requirements.

Educational Qualifications:
- Minimum ABET qualification (essential)
