About the Role

This is a commercial and analytics-driven role for retail planning professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments, love working with numbers, and understand how accurate stock distribution and location planning can directly drive sales performance.

The Store Planner is responsible for ensuring the accurate and optimal distribution of seasonal and non-seasonal stock, delivering location and replenishment plans at the required product level, analysing store performance, and providing timeous insights that support strong business decision-making across the retail network.

Key Responsibilities of a Store Planner

Stock Distribution & Optimisation

  • Ensure the accurate distribution of seasonal stock to optimise sales across the store network.
  • Ensure the optimal distribution of non-seasonal and seasonal replenishment stock to maximise sales performance.
  • Ensure new stores are stocked to plan at the required product level.
  • Assist stores in resolving any queries relating to stock allocation and distribution.

Location & Replenishment Planning

  • Deliver a location plan that allows for the clustering of stores at the required product level.
  • Deliver seasonal and non-seasonal replenishment profiles at the required product level.
  • Apply planning systems and tools to ensure accurate and efficient location and replenishment planning.

Visual Merchandising Support

  • Supply inputs to the seasonal look to support the required visual merchandising standards.
  • Ensure stock distribution aligns with the seasonal visual merchandising strategy across the network.

Store Performance Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse store performance and provide accurate and timeous information to optimise business decision-making.
  • Identify performance trends, stock opportunities, and risks across the store network.
  • Provide relevant planning insights and recommendations to support the broader retail strategy.

Stakeholder & Store Support

  • Assist stores in resolving queries relating to stock, replenishment, and allocation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including logistics, supply chain, and merchandise to support planning objectives.
  • Contribute to cross-functional planning processes and support the wider Planning team as required.

Minimum Requirements – Store Planner

Educational Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
  • National Diploma or Degree in Business, Retail Management, Accounting, or Finance (beneficial)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ sound experience in store planning within a clothing retail environment (essential)
  • Previous store management experience (advantageous)
  • Previous exposure to general logistics and supply chain processes (advantageous)
  • Experience in Outerwear (advantageous)

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office — Word and Excel (essential)
  • Advanced Excel skills (definite advantage)
  • Experience working in planning systems such as Location Planning, JDA Allocation Planning, and/or Just Enough (advantageous)
