What Does a Recruitment Clerk Do at AVBOB?
Recruitment Clerks in AVBOB’s Talent Acquisition Department support the Group’s recruitment process from end to end — from publishing job adverts and scheduling interviews through to capturing new employee details, processing offer documents, and facilitating onboarding. You will also handle general HR administration queries, compile weekly status reports, and manage tax invoice processing through the Group’s CMS.
This is a detail-oriented, multi-functional HR administration role that requires a Matric certificate, relevant experience, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to deliver excellent client service and interpersonal engagement in a fast-paced recruitment environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Recruitment Clerk
Recruitment Administration
- Publish job adverts on the Group’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Schedule interviews and send invitations to shortlisted candidates timeously.
- Compile interview guides two days before each interview in preparation for the panel.
- Facilitate candidate schedules on interview days to ensure a smooth process.
- Conduct employment reference checks on shortlisted candidates.
- Compile offer documents and load them on the ATS for approval by the relevant approval team.
- Record and allocate employee numbers to newly appointed staff.
- Verify that all required documents are completed and available before onboarding.
- Capture candidate details accurately on the HRIS.
- Administer recruitment records for both Insurance and Funeral Branch divisions.
- Follow up on outstanding documents from branches until all files are complete.
- Assist Human Resource Practitioners with the onboarding of new employees.
HR Administration & Query Handling
- Keep up to date with changes across the Group to ensure queries are responded to correctly and timeously.
- Perform any HR-related duties as requested by the team.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the broader Recruitment team as required.
- Consolidate all monthly appointments, transfers, and promotions accurately.
- Compile and update the weekly recruitment status report.
Tax Invoice Processing
- Receive tax invoices from suppliers and capture them in the Group’s CMS following all required processing steps.
- Ensure that the relevant Manager approves payments on CMS within the required timeframe.
- Capture invoice details under the correct GL code on the department’s budget control sheet.
- Follow up on outstanding payments with the Finance Department after 3 working days.
Minimum Requirements – Recruitment Clerk

Educational Qualifications:
- Matric / Grade 12 — essential
Experience:
- Relevant experience in a recruitment, HR administration, or related administrative role — essential
Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite — essential
- VIP payroll/HR system experience — advantageous
- Experience with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or HRIS — advantageous
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent client service and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
