Purpose of the Job
The Store Development Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing retail store openings, refurbishments, and relocations.
This includes managing contractors, controlling budgets, ensuring compliance with standards, and delivering projects within strict timeframes while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities of a Store Development Project Manager
Store Feasibility & Planning
- Conduct detailed site surveys and technical assessments
- Prepare project scope, cost estimates, and feasibility reports
- Compile capital expenditure budgets for approval
- Develop store layout plans including racking and building specifications
- Prepare presentations for board-level approval
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage full project lifecycle from initiation to store opening
- Develop project, construction, and installation programmes
- Coordinate SAP project system approvals and documentation
- Distribute project plans to all stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
Procurement & Contractor Management
- Prepare Bills of Quantities and project scopes for contractors

Store Openings & Refurbishments
- Oversee store construction, refurbishment, and relocation projects

Minimum Requirements – Project Manager
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Education:
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 6 qualification
- Project Management qualification (required)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management (retail/construction environment preferred)
- Strong construction and store development experience
Technical Skills:
- Computer literate (AutoCAD, MS Project, SAP, PowerPoint)
- Strong numeric and budgeting skills
