A Cleaner in the Cleaning Services division is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of government buildings, offices, courts, cells, and surrounding areas at the Nelspruit Regional Office. Key Duties & Responsibilities

🧽 Court, Cell & Ablution Facility Cleaning

  • Clean courts, holding cells, and detention areas to the required hygiene and sanitation standards

  • Empty waste bins and wash out receptacles in accordance with hygiene protocols
  • Mop and disinfect floors in ablution facilities, ensuring surfaces are clean and slip-free at all times

🧹 General Floor & Passage Cleaning

  • Sweep passages, office floors, and outdoor pavements regularly and as directed
  • Scrub, mop, and polish hard floors using appropriate cleaning materials and equipment
  • Strip and re-polish floors using industrial floor care equipment as scheduled
  • Vacuum carpeted offices and soft floor surfaces using vacuum cleaning equipment
  • Maintain clean, hazard-free floor surfaces throughout all assigned areas at all times

🪟 Surface, Window & Furniture Cleaning

  • Dust and polish office furniture, desks, cabinets, and fittings to a consistently high standard
  • Clean windows, doors, and wall surfaces inside and outside the building
  • Remove cobwebs, marks, and surface dirt from all assigned areas
  • Ensure all surfaces are presentable and hygienic at the start and end of each working day

🧴 Cleaning Materials & Equipment Management

  • Use all cleaning materials and chemicals correctly, safely, and economically
  • Operate all cleaning equipment including mops, buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners safely
  • Store cleaning materials and equipment correctly after use in designated storage areas
