Purpose of the Role
The General Worker performs general tasks requiring brief induction — including cleaning, tidiness, housekeeping, customer and supplier loading/offloading assistance, stock control support, and customer service — ensuring the NTK Retail premises in Polokwane are maintained to a clean, orderly, and customer-ready standard at all times.
Key Responsibilities – General Worker
Housekeeping & Cleaning
- Maintain general tidiness of the NTK Retail premises — ensuring all areas are clean, organised, and presentable throughout the working day.
- Perform cleaning duties across all designated areas of the retail outlet — floors, surfaces, loading areas, and general premises.
- General housekeeping of premises — maintaining standards consistently and without the need for constant supervision.
Customer & Supplier Loading/Offloading
- Assist customers and suppliers with loading and offloading of stock — safely, accurately, and in accordance with NTK Retail’s policies and procedures.
- Apply physical fitness and manual labour capability to all loading and offloading tasks — handling agricultural products, farm inputs, and retail goods correctly and efficiently.
Stock Control Support
- Support stock control activities — contributing to inventory accuracy through careful handling, correct storage, and prompt reporting of any discrepancies or damage.
Customer Service
- Provide basic customer service — assisting customers with queries, directions, and loading support in a professional and service-oriented manner.
Ad Hoc Duties
- Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time — contributing flexibly to the operational needs of the NTK Retail Polokwane branch.
