About RCL Foods
RCL Foods is one of South Africa’s most recognised and respected food manufacturers, producing a portfolio of trusted consumer brands across chicken, sugar, beverages, animal feeds, and milling products. With large-scale production and distribution facilities across Gauteng and South Africa, RCL Foods is a major employer and a cornerstone of the country’s FMCG supply chain.
The Beverages Division at Pretoria West forms part of RCL Foods’ broader supply chain and distribution operation — and the General Worker plays a hands-on, essential role in ensuring products are loaded, delivered, and tracked accurately across the customer network.
Purpose of the Role
The General Worker is responsible for ensuring vehicles are loaded and off-loaded accurately at customer receiving sites and site loading points, and that crates are washed, managed, and supplied to the relevant departments — specific to the Beverages Division. The role also contributes to housekeeping, safety compliance, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards throughout the facility.
RCL Foods is looking for an individual with a take-charge attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine commitment to compliance — someone who takes pride in doing physical work to the highest standard every day.
Key Responsibilities – General Worker (RCL Foods)
Loading, Off-Loading & Stock Management
- Load and off-load stocks and crates at customer receiving sites and on-site loading points accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure correct stocks are off-loaded at the correct customers by comparing all physical stock against the invoice before release.
- Maintain accurate records of total crates washed per customer and all damages identified during the washing and handling process.
- Report any discrepancies between physical stock and invoice documentation to the Transport Controller immediately.
Crate Washing & Management
- Ensure production departments always have a sufficient supply of clean crates to support uninterrupted operations.
- Separate clean crates from dirty crates at all times, maintaining a clear and organised crate management system.
- Operate the crate washer machine correctly — topping up water levels when low and monitoring machine performance during washing cycles.
- Report any crate washer machine defaults or malfunctions to the line manager immediately upon discovery.
- Report any pallet jack or trolley defaults or damage to the line manager without delay.
Housekeeping & Workplace Cleanliness
- Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained across all work areas at all times.
- Keep truck load bin floors clean throughout every shift.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work environment in all areas of responsibility.
Health, Safety & GMP Compliance
- Attend and actively participate in all relevant company safety programmes and toolbox talks.
- Maintain workplace safety and follow all established safety guidelines at all times.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) — including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas and observing confined space safety protocols.
- Report any food safety or food quality-related issues to management immediately upon identification.
- Contribute to a culture of safety awareness and compliance within the team.
Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset throughout all daily activities.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency within the loading, off-loading, and crate management functions.
- Share improvement ideas with the Transport Controller and line management constructively.
Shift & Operational Flexibility
- Work shifts as required to meet operational requirements.
- Be available to go out with delivery vehicles or assist with crate washing depending on operational needs from time to time.
- Adapt to changing daily priorities within the Beverages Division supply chain operation.
