Through the Anglo American South Africa (AASA) Education Programme, JET Education Services is looking to hire a Data Monitor to join one our provincial project teams (Mogalakwena and Amandelbult/SIOC-cdt, Limpopo) working on a large-scale education development project.
JET Education Services seeks to appoint Data Monitors to join its provincial project teams working on a large-scale education development project funded by Anglo American South Africa (AASA). Through a number of service providers, the programme will be working in primary and secondary schools as well as Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres local to AASA operations to improve learners’ educational outcomes.
Under the direct supervision of the JET AASA Education Programme Coordinator and in collaboration with the Programme Manager and Senior Programme Coordinator, the Data Monitors will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the intervention programmes in schools and ECD sites by capturing data on a range of key indicators.
JET requires Data Monitors in the following AASA region:
Limpopo (Mogalakwena and Amandelbult/SIOC-cdt)
The appointed Data Monitors must be based in one of the specified areas and will be offered a 24 month, fixed-term contract, renewable based on performance and funding. The appointees will be required to have the following attributes:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Grade 12 certificate;
A three-year Degree or National Diploma preferably in a related field (e.g. education or social science);
Prior work experience in basic research skills, data collection and reporting (1 – 3 years preferred);
Understanding of basic monitoring and evaluation concepts and methods;
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders where required;
Good computer skills (especially Excel or Access);
Good presentation and report writing skills;
Good understanding of developmental issues and challenges in the context of government policies, specifically education is an advantage;
Resident in the particular area earmarked for the post – a statement, account or affidavit confirming proof of residence is required (Applications without proof of residence will not be taken into consideration);
Fluency in English, Afrikaans, Setswana, Sotho; TshiVenda, isiSwati, isiZulu;
A valid and unendorsed Code 8 driving licence (own vehicle needed).
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Data Monitor will be responsible for:
Monitoring the project activities in project sites (schools and ECD centres) on a regular basis;
The collection of data against set indicators in relation to the project activities;
Ensuring routine procedures are followed and data quality standards maintained;
Reporting challenging issues at project sites as part of the programme’s early warning system;
Assisting the AASA Education Programme Coordinator in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual reports on project
progress;
Managing own time, travel and site visit arrangements;
Preparing meeting documents timeously as necessary.
Salary: The total cost to company (CTC) for this position is R119 483 p.a.
