The Department of Agriculture invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of FINANCE CLERK: DEBTORS REF NO: 3/3/1/64/2025 within the Chief Directorate: Financial Management.
This position is responsible for supporting financial management functions including financial accounting transactions, salary administration support, bookkeeping services, and budget administration. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with public service financial regulations.
Salary
R228 321 per annum

Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Grade 12.
Experience:
- No experience required.
Knowledge and Competencies:
- Basic knowledge of financial functions and financial administration practices.
- Basic knowledge of data capturing and financial statistics.
- Basic knowledge of Public Service financial legislation and procedures including:
- PFMA
- DORA
- PSA
- PSR
- PPPFA
- Financial Manual.
Skills and Competencies:
- Planning and organising skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal relations.
- Basic numeracy skills.
Candidates must demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage financial records responsibly.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Accounting Transactions
- Receive invoices for processing.
- Verify invoices for accuracy and approval according to internal control procedures.
- Capture payment transactions on financial systems.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents.
- Assist with the collection of cash payments.
Salary Administration Support
- Receive salary advice documentation.
- Verify and process salary advice for correctness.
- Capture salary payments, bonuses, and salary adjustments.
- Capture salary deductions.
- Maintain proper filing of salary administration documents.
Bookkeeping Support
- Capture financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Clear suspense accounts.
- Maintain records of debtors and creditors.
- Process electronic banking transactions.
Budget Support Services
- Collect budget information from budget holders.
- Compare expenditure against approved budgets.
- Identify expenditure variances.
- Capture and allocate budget virements.
- Distribute budget-related documents.
- Maintain filing of budget documentation.
Cash Handling and Recording
- Receive cash payments.
- Capture and record cash transactions in the financial system.
The Finance Clerk will contribute to maintaining accurate financial administration and supporting the departmentβs financial management processes.
Work Environment
The position is based in:
- Pretoria, Gauteng
