Distribution Centre Inventory and Supply Chain Support Role

Pedros Flame Grilled Chicken is recruiting a Warehouse Clerk for its Distribution Centre operations in Centurion, Gauteng. This is a contract opportunity within the Supply Chain functional area for detail-oriented candidates who excel in inventory control, warehouse organisation, and systems-based operations.

The successful candidate will support warehouse and distribution centre activities by maintaining accurate stock records, ensuring compliance with SOPs, and assisting with logistics coordination between procurement, transport, and operations teams.

Purpose of the Role

The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for supporting inventory management, receiving and shipping control, reporting, and warehouse compliance systems.

The role ensures that stock movement is accurately recorded, quality control standards are maintained, and distribution operations run efficiently across the supply chain network.

The position contributes directly to operational excellence by ensuring stores receive accurate, high-quality stock deliveries on time.

Key Responsibilities

The Warehouse Clerk will manage inventory and stock control systems in accordance with company SOPs. This includes conducting weekly stock take variance investigations and ensuring stock accuracy.

Maintaining FIFO (First In First Out) stock management systems is required to ensure product freshness and minimise waste. The candidate must also maintain accurate PAR levels to support operational stock planning.

Investigating and resolving non-accounted stock discrepancies is a core responsibility. The candidate must identify stock movement errors and report anomalies promptly.

Ensuring that only approved and current items are available on operational portals is required to maintain system accuracy.

The Warehouse Clerk will oversee dedicated storage bays for damaged, discontinued, or discarded stock items to maintain warehouse organisation.

Receiving, shipping, and quality control duties include verifying goods received against correct pricing documentation and raising claims immediately where discrepancies occur.

The candidate must investigate and resolve delivery variances including overs, shorts, and damaged goods within required timelines.

Temperature-sensitive products must be carefully managed from receiving through to transportation processes to maintain product safety and quality.

The role requires close collaboration with procurement and logistics teams to ensure supply chain continuity.

Warehouse organisation and compliance responsibilities include ensuring pallet bays are properly labelled and storage areas are organised.

Strict access control procedures must be enforced to maintain security and inventory control standards.

The candidate must enforce PPE and uniform compliance at all times to maintain workplace safety standards.

Daily cleaning and closing checklists must be completed to maintain hygiene and operational standards.

Quality incident reports (QIRs) must be investigated and resolved to prevent operational recurrence.

Reporting and Systems Management

The Warehouse Clerk will compile and distribute daily warehouse operational reports.

Operational gaps must be identified, and preventative system improvements must be implemented where possible.

Use of Sage and MS Office software is required to maintain accurate inventory and operational records.

The candidate will work closely with procurement teams to maintain optimal stock availability levels.

Team and Operational Excellence

Training support must be provided to warehouse teams regarding SOP compliance.

The Warehouse Clerk will support safety compliance initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.

Ad hoc operational duties may be assigned based on business requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Warehousing, Supply Chain Management, or related field is required.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working with inventory control and FIFO systems is required.

Previous warehouse or distribution centre experience is essential.

Proficiency in Sage and MS Office Suite is required.
