About the Role

The Sales Clerk is responsible for delivering efficient customer service to walk-in clients while ensuring that stock management processes are followed accurately.

Customer Service and Sales Execution

Customers should be made aware of additional products that may enhance their purchase, supporting overall sales growth. A strong customer awareness mindset and business acumen are essential to identify opportunities to increase sales while maintaining ethical selling practices.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

In addition to sales responsibilities, the Sales Clerk must actively monitor stock levels within the branch. Ensuring that stock is ordered from suppliers or procurement when necessary helps prevent shortages and supports uninterrupted service delivery.

The role includes receiving stock from the receiving department, confirming correct counts, and ensuring accurate pricing. Daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts must be conducted to maintain inventory accuracy and accountability.

Systems and Product Knowledge

A good understanding of AFGRI Retail’s product range is required to assist customers effectively and to ensure accurate stock control.

Computer literacy is essential, as the Sales Clerk will work with internal systems to process sales, update stock records, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Understanding branch policies and procedures ensures that all transactions and stock movements are conducted in line with organisational standards.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Sales Clerk (Retail) – Senekal position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12.

Minimum of 1 year experience in a direct sales environment.

Good knowledge of AFGRI Retail’s product range (advantageous).

Computer literacy.
