Interfront SOC Ltd. is recruiting five experienced professionals for the position of Specialist CX and UX Designer on a 24-month contract basis. Based in Pretoria, this hybrid role requires successful candidates to be located in Gauteng and to work from the Brooklyn Office when required.

Operating within the Information Technology industry, Interfront supports large-scale digital environments, including collaboration with South African Revenue Service (SARS). This role is focused on shaping and delivering seamless, user-centred experiences that solve complex problems, enhance service delivery, and encourage voluntary compliance.

About the Role

The Specialist: CX / UX Designer is responsible for shaping customer and user experience strategies that address complex challenges through intuitive and impactful digital solutions.

The role combines design thinking methodologies with advanced technical design skills to build user-centred products that improve accessibility, satisfaction, and engagement. A strong emphasis is placed on research-driven insights, structured service design, and cross-functional collaboration.

The successful candidate will influence cross-product policies, digital transformation initiatives, and service design efforts to ensure consistent and seamless experiences across all customer and employee interactions.

Key Responsibilities

The Specialist will:

Shape, design, and guide customer and user experience strategies to create seamless digital experiences.

Drive user satisfaction and engagement by delivering impactful and intuitive designs.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams and relevant stakeholders to integrate user experience principles across development processes.

Ensure that services are structured according to the needs, expectations, and behaviours of both customers and employees.

Translate feedback and research insights into design solutions that improve accessibility, service delivery, and voluntary compliance.

Lead design and engineering teams in the execution of service design initiatives.

Influence cross-functional policies and digital transformation projects to ensure consistency and usability across platforms.

Process and Service Design Execution

The role requires structured design processes that include:

Conducting user research to gather insights and understand user behaviours.

Defining clear problem statements and measurable goals.

Designing wireframes and prototypes that demonstrate functional and visual concepts.

Integrating user input across all business design domains.

Developing and maintaining comprehensive UX and UI design systems and service design standards.

Facilitating service design sprints and co-design workshops with internal and external stakeholders.

Supporting the full service lifecycle, from discovery and design through implementation and ongoing improvement.

Establishing effective connections between customer research and functional implementation to ensure alignment between strategy and execution.

Governance, Finance and Risk Management

The Specialist will develop and align governance and compliance policies within their practice area to manage risk exposure effectively.

Financial accountability is also required, including implementing and monitoring financial controls and cost management within the area of specialisation.

The role includes applying institutional process analysis and redesign principles while ensuring that audit requirements and governance frameworks are met.

People and Knowledge Leadership

As a senior specialist, the successful candidate will provide authoritative expertise and thought leadership in UX and CX design. This includes:

Transferring knowledge gained through formal and informal learning opportunities.

Supporting internal and external stakeholders with specialist advice.

Contributing to the organisation’s knowledge management and specialist practice community.

Encouraging delivery excellence and stakeholder-focused service standards.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for the Specialist CX and UX Designer position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in UX Design, HCI, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in UX/UI or CX design.

At least 3–4 years’ experience at operational specialist level, ideally within financial services, public sector, digital government, or regulated industries.

Strong ability to identify patterns and underlying issues in complex situations.

Proven capability to document information systems, process specifications, and operational requirements.

Experience implementing internal audit functions aligned with organisational strategy.

Ability to produce clear, well-structured reports for various stakeholders.

Technical and Knowledge Competencies

Strong knowledge of functional policies and procedures within regulated environments.

Business analysis and institutional process analysis expertise.

Process auditing and reporting capabilities.

Experience conducting user research and usability testing.

Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Ability to map user journeys across multiple touchpoints.

Strong analytical skills for evaluating usability and user behaviour.
