An opportunity is available for an experienced Reach Truck Driver based in Maydon Wharf, Durban. This is a contract role within the logistics and supply chain industry, focused on the safe and efficient operation of a reach truck within a cold-room warehouse environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for loading and offloading materials, accurate stock storage and movement, and daily reach truck inspections. This role is suited to a candidate with proven reach truck experience, a valid operator certification, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

About the Role

The Reach Truck Driver will operate a reach truck on a daily basis to safely move, load, and offload materials within the warehouse. The role requires someone who is skilled, safety-conscious, and able to maintain a high level of accuracy when storing and handling stock.

Working as part of a dedicated logistics team, the successful candidate will contribute to the efficient flow of warehouse operations while upholding safety standards and maintaining a clean and organised work environment.

Reach Truck and Warehouse Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is the safe operation of a reach truck to load, offload, and accurately store materials within the warehouse. Daily inspections of the reach truck must be completed before each shift and any maintenance issues must be reported promptly to the relevant supervisor.

The candidate will assist with inventory management by ensuring all items are stored and moved accurately, follow all safety regulations and guidelines at all times, maintain a clean and organised work area, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors throughout the shift.

Safety and Compliance

Safety is central to this role and all reach truck operations must be carried out in strict accordance with warehouse safety regulations and company procedures. The successful candidate must demonstrate a thorough understanding of safe reach truck operation and take responsibility for the wellbeing of those working in the surrounding environment.

Minimum Requirements

A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is required along with a valid reach truck operator certification. Proven experience operating a reach truck in a warehouse environment is essential. The candidate must be physically fit, able to lift heavy objects, and comfortable working in a fast-paced cold-room environment. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team while following safety procedures are all required.
