Heavy Vehicle Delivery and Logistics Role

Voltex (Pty) Ltd is recruiting a qualified Driver Code 14 for its East London branch. This full-time role reports directly to the Branch Manager and focuses on ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery and collection of materials to customers.

The Driver Code 14 plays a critical role in logistics operations by transporting goods safely, maintaining delivery documentation, and ensuring compliance with road safety and transport regulations. About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to manage delivery and collection activities efficiently while maintaining high safety and compliance standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle inspections, route planning, loading verification, and accurate completion of delivery administration.

The Driver Code 14 must demonstrate strong responsibility for vehicle condition, cargo safety, and customer satisfaction. The role requires adherence to safety regulations, effective communication with customers, and proactive reporting of delivery-related issues.

Delivery and Transportation Responsibilities

The Driver Code 14 must complete a vehicle inspection sheet before each trip to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.

Any vehicle defects or accidents must be reported immediately to the Branch Manager to ensure corrective action.

The driver must verify compliance with weight and height restrictions on bridges and tunnels and adhere to all regulations governing material transportation.

Routes must be planned and navigated effectively to ensure timely deliveries and collections.

Stock must be loaded in accordance with the log sheet in collaboration with the Operations Manager, ensuring alignment with delivery documentation.

Documentation and Customer Interaction

All delivery administration and reports must be submitted after each trip to maintain accurate operational records.

Customer and client signatures must be obtained as confirmation of goods received.

Effective communication with customers is essential to resolve delivery-related concerns or complaints professionally.

Accurate documentation supports accountability and operational transparency.

Vehicle Maintenance and Compliance

The Driver Code 14 must ensure the delivery vehicle remains clean and well-maintained at all times.

Service schedules must be monitored, and the Operations Manager notified when maintenance is due.

All safety and security regulations must be followed to protect goods, customers, and company assets.

Delivery-related problems must be reported promptly to ensure timely resolution.

Safety and Hazardous Goods Handling

The role requires handling dangerous goods, ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and protective equipment requirements.

Knowledge of safety regulations and proper use of protective clothing is essential.

The Driver Code 14 must demonstrate vigilance and responsibility when transporting hazardous materials.

Qualifications and Experience

Matric or equivalent qualification is required.

Valid Code 14 driver’s licence is mandatory.

Valid PDP/CD licence is required.

Hazchem certificate is essential.

A valid passport is advantageous.

Proven experience as a truck driver is required.

Familiarity with GPS technology devices, AVL units, and route navigation tools is expected.

Knowledge of warehouse processes and logistics operations is beneficial.
