Manufacturing Production Support Role in a Leading FMCG Environment

Tiger Brands is seeking a dedicated and disciplined General Worker to join its operations in Boksburg, Gauteng. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where operational efficiency, safety compliance, and hygiene standards are critical.

The successful candidate will assist in operating equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensure adherence to HACCP principles, and support production targets by maintaining accurate records and reporting deviations where necessary.

About the Role

The General Worker plays a key role in supporting production processes by assisting with equipment operation, conducting checks, reporting downtime, and ensuring adherence to hygiene and safety standards.

This role requires functional literacy and numeracy skills, the ability to understand process specifications and recipes, and the discipline to follow strict operating procedures. The position operates within a shift-based environment, including overtime and weekend work when required.

The candidate must be medically fit, possess a clean criminal record, and meet the placement assessment requirements.

Key Job Outputs

The General Worker assists in operating equipment in accordance with established SOPs.

HACCP principles must be adhered to at all times to ensure food safety and compliance within the manufacturing environment.

The role includes assisting in identifying appropriate corrective action when required and reporting any deviations to the Supervisor.

Wastage must be reported accurately.

Necessary operational checks must be conducted to ensure equipment and production standards are maintained.

Downtime must be recorded accurately to support operational reporting and performance monitoring.

The General Worker is responsible for ensuring that equipment and the work area are kept clean at all times.

All deviations must be rectified where possible and reported promptly to the Supervisor.

Safety regulations must be adhered to strictly, and any unsafe practices must be reported immediately.

Personal hygiene and factory hygiene standards must be maintained in line with company requirements.

Key Attributes and Competencies

The successful candidate must be functionally literate and numerate.

An understanding of process specifications, recipes, and interpretation of data is required.

The ability to read and understand SOPs is essential.

High levels of accuracy and attention to detail are required to ensure quality standards are maintained.

The candidate must understand goals and objectives as explained by the Supervisor.

The ability to work shifts, including overtime and weekends, is essential.

The role requires a team player who can work effectively within a production team.

Self-motivation and high levels of personal discipline are critical.

The candidate must be willing to be trained and develop multi-skilling capabilities.

Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science is required, or a 3-year Tertiary Qualification (NQF6).

A Placement Assessment is required.

A clean criminal record is required.

The candidate must be medically fit.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in Boksburg within a manufacturing and production facility. The environment is fast-paced and requires strict compliance with safety, hygiene, and operational procedures.

Shift work is required, and flexibility to work overtime and weekends is essential to support production demands.
