FMCG Sales & Customer Growth Role – Baking Division
RCL Foods is seeking a Sales Representative to join its Baking Division based in Bloemfontein, Free State. This permanent role forms part of the Customer function and reports directly to the Area Sales Manager.

The Sales Representative role is designed for a candidate who is strong on sales fundamentals and capable of driving sales volumes, improving market share, and maintaining efficient customer service standards within the assigned territory.
Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of the Sales Representative is to ensure efficient customer service is maintained to increase sales volumes and improve market share within the Bloemfontein area.
The role requires structured sales planning, consistent customer engagement, and effective agent management to meet and exceed monthly sales targets.
This position plays a key role in strengthening relationships with traders, retail stores, and regional managers while ensuring execution of promotional activities and merchandising standards.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Budget and Planning
Monthly sales budgets and volumes must be achieved or exceeded. The Sales Representative must compile monthly action plans per customer to ensure targets are met.
A minimum of four displays per month must be implemented in line with promotional objectives.
A set route list must be followed weekly to ensure consistent coverage of the assigned trading area.
Weekly review meetings with agents must be conducted to monitor performance and align strategies.
Weekly sales meetings held every Friday at 08:00 must be attended, and sales statistics and relevant information must be shared regularly.
Customer Relationship Management
The Sales Representative must establish and maintain strong working relationships with store managers and regional managers.
A regular calling cycle with all traders in the area must be developed and maintained.
New business must be continually canvassed to grow customer base and increase sales opportunities.
The role requires ongoing negotiation for improved and increased shelf space for company products in all outlets.
Excellent customer service levels must be maintained at all times to ensure long-term customer retention.
Promotions and Merchandising
Promotional plans must be implemented to achieve sales volumes.
Friday promotions must be conducted, and Saturday promotions when applicable.
The Sales Representative must ensure correct merchandising in all outlets and promote company products using available display materials.
Demonstration and promotion of bread sales form part of monthly actions to achieve sales budgets.
Agent Management
Weekly communication sessions must be conducted with agents.
The Sales Representative must co-travel weekly with agent sales staff and management to monitor performance and provide guidance.
Weak points within agent performance must be identified and rectified.
Agents must be informed of all marketing activities, and proper execution must be ensured.
Shelf management by agents must be monitored to ensure effective product placement.
Sales Growth and Market Share
Opportunities to increase sales through existing customers must be identified, and new customer acquisition must be pursued.
The role requires maximizing sales and growing market share within the allocated region.
Assistance must be provided to agents and customers where required to ensure operational efficiency and satisfaction.
Weekly Reporting
The Sales Representative must compile weekly reports covering sales activity, opposition activity, achievements, agent performance versus budget, individual sales volumes versus budget, sales staff performance and actions, and key points of interest or issues.
Accurate reporting ensures transparency, performance tracking, and effective strategic adjustments.
Minimum Requirements
Matric
Degree in Sales or Management or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG environment
Valid EB driver’s licence (Code 8)
