AFGRI Retail is seeking a qualified and responsible Driver to be based in Bethal, Mpumalanga. This permanent position offers an opportunity to work within a structured agricultural retail environment, ensuring the effective distribution and delivery of stock to various outlets.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the operation and maintenance of vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and professional delivery services. About the Role

The Driver will be responsible for the daily operation of delivery vehicles and ensuring that stock reaches its destination safely and on time. The role requires strict compliance with road safety standards, company policies, and delivery procedures.

In addition to driving responsibilities, the role includes assisting with stock control processes, loading and offloading goods, and completing all necessary documentation related to deliveries and vehicle usage.

This position requires professionalism, punctuality, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Performance Areas

Delivery and Logistics Execution

The Driver is responsible for ensuring that all deliveries and related logistics are executed professionally and efficiently.

This includes transporting stock to outlets, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining high service standards throughout the distribution process.

Proper administrative procedures related to deliveries must also be completed accurately and on time.

Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance

The Driver must perform daily inspections to ensure the roadworthiness of the vehicle.

This includes checking key components before departure, identifying any mechanical issues, and reporting concerns to the relevant line manager.

Maintaining the condition of the vehicle is essential to ensure operational continuity and compliance with safety standards.

Stock Management and Handling

The Driver will assist with stock counts and ensure that all stock loaded onto the vehicle is well-maintained and managed during transportation.

This includes assisting with the loading and offloading of stock according to company procedures.

Careful handling of goods is essential to prevent damage and ensure customer satisfaction.

Documentation and Reporting

The role requires completion of the vehicle logbook on a daily basis.

Any delays, incidents, or irregularities must be reported promptly to the line manager.

Accurate documentation supports operational transparency and compliance with company standards.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 is required.

A minimum of 1 year of heavy vehicle driving experience is required.

Experience within an agricultural environment will be an advantage.

Technical Knowledge and Competencies

Valid Code 10 (C1) Driver’s License with PDP is required.

Knowledge of the operating environment.

GPS and map reading skills.

Basic knowledge of farming activities and agricultural products.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
